Bekah's imagination is taking flight. Today we had a couple of returning visitors...Mr. Fox was spying on us and the Tooth Fairy was tapping on our window. I'm learning that Bekah has an incredible memory (like her Dad) and characters from books stay with her...and pay us visits!
Bekah has been sleeping terribly lately. I was so exhausted yesterday and decided to put into effect a technique (did I just spell that in French? Or is it the same in English? Huh.) I read in a book that was recommended to me awhile back (thanks, Andrea!) Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. We told her that if she could follow the bedtime rules, she'd get a sticker in the morning and after 3 stickers she'd get a prize. She slept last night from 6:30pm till 8am!! Wow!! We'll see how tonight goes...my hopes are up.

Trust in the Lord
Today Bekah was singing along with her worship cd from pops and mimi. When track 3 came on (trust in the Lord with all your heart) she told me, "this is my favorite song". And as she sang along, we realized she was not getting all of the lyrics quite right...
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths strange."
Ohh man.

Bekah quotes
Curtis: You are beautiful.
Rebekah: Call me beautiful?
Curtis: Ya, what do you think of that?
Rebekah: It makes me happy.
Curtis: If Daddy and Mommy and big girls go to the bathroom on the toilet and Bekah goes to the bathroom on the toilet, what does that make Bekah?
Bekah: Happy? (I guess she'll get logic and deduction a little later in life).
Curtis: Who loves Bekah?
Bek: Jesus.
Curtis: Who else?
Bek: God.
Curtis: Who else?
Bek: All of them love me. (Then she promptly began listing people...I'm glad she knows she's loved!)
Bekah snuggled doggy in the car and said "I'll keep you warm, doggy." And later, "Doggy's my best friend." This child needs a sibling.

Week three in Kansas City
It's been a combination of eventful and uneventful...lots of being home. A flat tire in the snow (Curtis is the man and got the spare on in the freezing cold). New friends for Bekah and I (a gal from church and her little girl, who is Bek's age). A couple workouts with our renewed gym membership. And lots of firsts. First week of school for Curtis. First time shoveling snow for Curtis. First time Curtis got locked out of the house in the snow. First time Bekah tried to convince Curtis to something for her because "Mommy ALWAYS does it". First time I made ribs in the crockpot (soooo delish). And a couple more firsts...
First French braids |
First fingerpainting. She pretended it was lotion. Perfect. |
She was proud to show off her painted "butterfly". |
Just a peek into Bekah this morning. |
So much snow! I've concluded that snow to KC is the same as rain to Portland. You just deal with it. Life goes on. :) |

The weather outside is frightful...
Curtis built a fort with Bekah last night and they had fun reading inside with a flashlight. Today it started snowing at about 2pm and now (at 6pm) we already have INCHES and it's supposed to snow all night....like 9 inches. We're not in Kansas anymore.....oh wait.....

butterfly art
Curtis comes home today (2 more hours!) after being gone since early Friday morning. We are definitely anticipating his arrival. Today Bekah had fun painting, coloring, and putting stickers on a paper. Then we traced her handprints and made them into butterflies (on-line idea). She also spent some time "washing" the dishes for me. Passing the time!

Rebekah the party planner
Bekah is love, love, loving her kitchen and pretend ("retend") food. She's always setting up parties for her friends (her stuffed "aminals"). She's adjusting fairly well to our new house. She's not sleeping fantastic, but we're getting there. I was up with her twice last night, which is 2 too many times for a 2 year old in my opinion...Any experienced Moms out there with tried and true advice for this?
the move to Kansas City
The view when you walk in the front door.
Upstairs we have 2 huge bedrooms and a bathroom that makes me feel claustrophobic. :)
Curtis beat us here and when he picked us up from the airport, he met me with a white mocha, roses, and when we got home, there was this sign, a huge Elmo balloon (he's gone back to Sesame street now, but Bekah LOVED it), and a welcome home balloon. I got a good one!

PS-off the kitchen we have a basement/garage for those of you who may be concerned that we be safe in case of a tornado. :)
