another rainy day

Bekah woke up asking to skype with Mips and Mimi today.  We'll have to try that later!
We went "shopping" with her shopping cart and built a tower out of leggos.  She told doggie today, "Jesus loves you doggie".  We read about Jesus dying on the cross and she informed me that she wants to follow Jesus.
Right now she's busy building various things with her play doh.  In the pictures below she was building a Christmas tree for Pops and Mimi.  "They are going to love it" she said.

Yes, I think they will. :)

I wouldn't trade this.

Rebekah Jane, I just have to tell you that I wouldn't trade this season of being home full time with you for anything.  We've been putting your little play house together and singing "One day soon" together.  You know all the words and are singing it over and over.  I just love you so much and cherish this time.

(One day soon, I'll be with you, woa woa woa, one day soon, when life is through, woa woa woa, I'll go home, to be forever with you, ooh ooh ooh ooh.  Suddenly, in the blink of an eye we'll be caught up, to meet him in the sky, so don't cry when you're feelin way down.  We're gonna kiss this world goodbye! Smack!)

une chenille

I re-learned this word today.  It is caterpillar in French.  Today Bekah and I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Then made a caterpillar out of an egg carton.  We painted it together and put on googly eyes and an antenna.  We talked about how we are like the caterpillar.  When we believe in Jesus and ask him to live inside of us, he does!  And his Spirit makes us new.  Just like the caterpillar turns into a beautiful butterfly, God's Spirit inside of us makes us new and beautiful.  When she wakes up on Easter, the caterpillar will be gone and in it's place I have a butterfly.  I'm really enjoying this Easter season!

How the elephant got its trunk

Curtis and Bekah have been reading a book on Curtis' new ipad about how the elephant got its trunk.  I'm not sure exactly how the story goes, except that in the end, the crocodile bites the elephants nose and it somehow gives him his trunk.
Today we were at the zoo and Curtis asked Bekah if she wanted to see the crocodiles.  She told us that she did NOT want to see the crocodile.  Why?  Because she does not want to get a big, huge, big trunk.  She does not want an owie from the crocodile and she does NOT want to be an elephant.  She wants to be a big girl.

difficult and funny

Bekah would not look at me for me to take her picture today.  Or she'd look for a sec and purposefully look away when it was about to take.  She was awfully cute wearing her little apron to cook in her kitchen....

And some quotes from the last few days...

Bekah raced ahead of me to go downstairs at church last night.  She was speeding down the stairs and when I caught up to her, she pushed me away and said, "No Mommy!". Then with her hand out in front of her, she said "Don't come wif me, Mom."

She just picked up her doggie and said, "Sweetie pie, you're cryin?  You're sad?  Oh, poor baby.  Oh, you're happy now?  Hooray!  (putting him in her shopping cart)  Put your legs in here, dog.  Put your tail in.  Mommy, doggie's asleep in the shopping cart, don't wake him up."

This morning, she says "I'm gonna barf!  I'm gonna barf!"  (ps-she's not currently sick.  She's well.) Then, "Watch a Dora while I barf?  May I barf in here (a tupperware)?".

Trying to tell Curtis about a conversation she and I had yesterday:
Bekah:  "And I said, 'Come on Mommy!'  Ummm...(blinking)...what I said? (hangs head  and says in a small, defeated voice) I don't remember."

Pointing to a page with a picture but no words, she said, "It doesn't have a voice right here."

"My hair's in my face, just like a creepy bug."

After setting up about a MILLION little paper plates around the house, she said to me, "Come have a tea party wif us!  (pointing to plates) This looks great!!  Have a tea party wif us!"

This morning she wanted me to come upstairs with her and Curtis, so she hollered, "Jane Lillie, come here!".

our first really hot day

It's in the upper 80's today and MUGGY.  I hear it's only going to get more muggy...I think I'll spend half the summer with my head in the freezer.  If anyone wants to send us a little extra cash for our electricity bill, I won't complain. :)

It is a beautiful day actually.  The wind helps keep it bearable and our little house is surprisingly pleasant.  Bekah is in her darling spring outfit (compliments of Bella and Auntie Angela).

In these pictures, Bekah is playing with her legos and getting Thomas the train all set up.

She just announced to me that she's gonna go on a little date...with her shopping cart...to the store.  Sounds romantic.

"Hi Mimi!"

"Choo Choo!"

6 years of marriage

Can it be?  These 6 years seem like they flew by, but we are such different people now that it must have been 6 years!
As I sit here and type, Rebekah is singing "Rejoice! Rejoice! And again I say rejoice.  Rejoice in the Lord always..." as she paints blobs that she claims are Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and the Prince and Cinderella.  Yes, Rebekah, we should rejoice!  For lots of reasons, but today, that Christ has made our marriage possible.  Many people change in marriage and over the years grow apart.  But, because of our common faith and the decision to love more and more like Jesus loves us (which seems rather impossible without Him!), we have instead changed and grown together.  Such a beautiful thing.
I'm so thankful for my husband.  I am better because of him.  And I think I have more fun. :)

Bekah Daddy date

"I'm bringin' my phone just in case."
