April in pictures
heading to church
We are getting ready to move and it's hard to believe that this was our last of 3 Sundays at First Church. Kansas City FC has been so very good to us.

Bekah's "birthday"
Bekah has been talking a LOT about her 4th birthday, which won't be here for nearly 5 MONTHS. Yesterday, she requested gift bags, which she filled with her own toys as gifts for herself. Today she wanted to make decorations to take with us to CA for her party. I think all of this might spring from the "If you give a pig a party" book that she got from Great Auntie Joan. She's been into bringing her books to life lately, and those books are her favorites right now. Hence her making her own books for school the past couple of weeks ("If you take a mouse to school"). Today she wanted to pull out the streamers and give herself a birthday party, and I thought, "What the heck?". One less thing to pack, right? So, we had a pretend birthday party after naps. She repeatedly told me how "awesome" I was as I hung streamers. Her "friends" joined the party and she and I played a rousing game of Scrabble as well. Let's be honest, she just picked out the letters to spell our names. But it was a lot of fun. I need to pretend with her more often.
You may also notice a picture of Cate in the laundry basket. I needed to carry both her and the clean clothes upstairs. She slept away in there and was so super cute, I didn't have the heart to move her. I just kept a really good eye on her. She's been sleeping for a few hours now and it's making me nervous she won't sleep tonight. At 9 weeks old, she's had a couple of 5-7 hour stretches at night. Not too shabby.
We celebrated our 7 year anniversary on Monday. Wow! I am continually struck by what an amazing man I married. He is so good to me. It is not at all uncommon for me to be sleeping at 9am while he is up with the kids after I had a rough night with Catie. He's more than I could ask for in a husband and also an intentional father. I think I hit the jackpot 7 years ago. :)
Our friend Darin watched the girls and we got to go on a date Curtis planned-to a cute French restaurant in Brookside (crepes...yummm) and out to coffee and a little competitive board game playing. It was so good to be alone and have fun together.
Ok, pictures!

I cannot HANDLE that little face! |
Cate's hair is HILARIOUS right now. Long on top and in back, and balding like an old man on the sides. |
This dress from Ang is Bekah's FAVORITE, as I may have mentioned before. She'd wear it every day if I let her. |
She's such a proud big sister. And she repeats EVERYTHING I say to Cate in a little high pitched, sing-songy voice....wait, do I sound like that??? Oh dear. |

note to Dad
Today we left the house while Curtis was still asleep (a rarity around here). I asked Bekah to write him a note saying we were leaving. She eagerly scribbled out her "note" and then wrote her name (she's learning how right now). Then, I had her dictate what she "wrote" and I wrote it down. It's so funny. Here is what she "wrote". And I quote...
"Daddy,
We're leaving soon. But we're home right now. Daddy, I, Bekah Jane Lillie, I love you and when we go I'll miss you. Than when Mommy does my hair, I won't like it. So, I like my stuff, but I might know that you are asleep, Curtis. Rebekah. Can you please wake up? Oh, I know that you're asleep cause Mommy told me. She told me to be quiet, so I'm being quiet. So, van (than), the night is gonna be nighttime. I'm writing you a note so you know we'll be gone. Rebekah Jane Lillie and Jane Rebecca...Daddy, I really love you. I read my Bible and everyfing..." (I had to cut her off as my hand was getting tired).
SUCH a talker. She cracks me up. We've talked a lot together about Jesus today and what Easter means. Bek bought a doll at a garage sale with her own money. When she told me she loves her doll, we got to talk about how Jesus bought us with his own blood and that's part of the reason He loves us so much. She isn't currently interested in asking Jesus to live in her heart and be her Lord, but we're talking. And praying. If you are a blog reader of ours, I invite you to pray with us, that Jesus would win the hearts of Bekah and Cate.

lazy Tuesday
We've been pretty busy lately, and today we're taking it easy. Feels rather nice. Curtis graduates with his Mdiv in less than 2 months. Im so proud of him! We are heading back to Livermore after that, where Curtis has accepted the call to pastor our home church there. We're sad to lrave so many wonderful brothers and sisters in the Lord here, but are truly thrilled to be going "home". These next months are going to be full of finishing school, ministry, packing, and 2 darling little girls. Here's some pictures...

coos and smiles
Baby Cate is growing! We've gotten a couple of "social" smiles and she's starting to coo, which is just about the cutest thing on the planet! We've switched to mostly formula feeding (a long, sad story) and I think it is good for her. She's getting fuller-both her tummy AND her diapers. :) Turns out I don't produce much milk.
In these pictures she's fresh out of the bath. You'll see a little hand holding hers-her adoring big sister's.
